Order Confirmation

Order confirmation is the call placed to a buyer before a cash-on-delivery order is shipped, to verify that they meant to order, that the address is correct, and that they will be there to receive it.

Why it exists

In cash on delivery the buyer commits nothing at checkout. That makes ordering easy, which is the point, but it also means a share of orders are impulse, duplicate, mistaken or fake. Shipping those costs money and returns nothing.

Confirmation moves that filter to the cheapest possible moment: a phone call, before the parcel leaves the warehouse.

What a good call actually does

The address step matters more than sellers expect. In markets navigated by landmark, a confirmed address is often the difference between a delivery and an RTO.

The rate to expect

MDM Express operates at a 75% order confirmation rate. The remaining orders are cancelled before dispatch, so they never cost the seller a shipment or a return.
